About the Book At seven years old, Jennifer Beckham declared, “Mommy, I’m going to be a princess when I grow up!” Eleven years later, she was chosen out of thousands of girls to be a face character for Tokyo Disneyland, portraying the roles of Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, and even Mary Poppins. There, in the setting of a magical wonderland, playing the parts of those beautiful princesses, Jennifer’s endless search for fulfillment culminated in a secret life of depression and destructive behaviors.
Jennifer experienced first-hand what it was like to strive for perfection and still never measure up ... to search for love in all the wrong places ... to run into the arms of a loving God—only to later have Him tell her to “Get over yourself!”
Though His words seemed harsh, Jennifer realized that God wanted her to address a crippling tendency shared by many women—to get so stuck in the pain, the misery, and the heartaches of life that they never fully move on and into the purposes of God. In the end, seven practical principles served as Jennifer’s roadmap out of her “self issues,” into a life free from shame, regret, anger, and insecurity.
So if you are searching, hurting, mourning, yearning, or just scratching your head at your lack of contentment, these life-changing principles are for you. No matter what your age or stage in life, you, too, can step into your purpose and get on with the amazing plans God has laid out for you.
It’s time to Get Over Yourself!
